week 38

Our ob said that I am about 70% effaced (thinned) this morning. Although the baby could technically come at any time, the doc said that if she had to make a guess, it's still probably going to take at least another week. But William is still head-down, has a strong heartbeat, and the doc estimated his weight at 6.5 pounds. =)

Since my due date is next Thursday, the baby will have to be induced sometime the week after if he hasn't come yet. William is full-term now, so they don't want him getting too big because of my gestational diabetes. Please pray that William would come on his own. Inductions are often more painful because they are initiated by an artificial hormone that mimics the natural hormone your body would secrete to begin labor. So you don't have the natural endorphins kicking in because your body doesn't recognize the artifical hormone that is triggering labor. Bill and I were a bit disappointed to hear that it may take much longer than we anticipated for him to get here. Now that Halloween is over, we have been eager to have him here with us, although I know that God will bring him at the perfect time. We'll just have to play the waiting game a bit longer. =) Please pray that we would trust in God's perfect timing, as well as faith to walk through whatever labor may look like.
