a monkey luau

Our monkey had his first birthday party ever! We had a fun monkey/tropical island/luau theme going on. I'm so glad everyone decided to humor me by wearing their leis. Even William kept his on to make his momma happy. Here are some highlights...

Lori & William

The spread... ooh la la... (We even had Cluck-U's chicken courtesy of Mom!)

Tessa, Gabi, & William checking out his new photo album...

Uncle Tom, Mom, Aunt Joy, & Lori having a serious discussion it looks like... =)

The glowing bride-to-be... =)

Bill & William sharing some giggles...

The cake... "happy 1st birthday, monkey!"

Ah-ma feeding William some b-day cake...

Yuck...

Time to open presents!

A meltdown already?

Ok, back to opening presents...

More toys...

Presents galore!!! (I think William has enough presents to last him the next 10 years.)

William & Aunt Carolyn (I especially appreciated what Carolyn wrote in her card to William: "May the Lord call you at a young age, just like Samuel!" Indeed, our mission and goal in parenting William is to lovingly reflect the gospel as best we can, so he may see his need for a Savior.)

We had a great time celebrating with family and friends. A shout-out to our mothers and Lori who contributed food. A special thanks to Jane who bought some items for the goody bags. And an extra special thanks to Cleo, who went above and beyond the call of duty (as always), helping me to test-drive some different cake recipes, picked up some balloons, and helped to put the decorations up and clean up afterwards, not to mention concocting her infamous "Not Yo Momma's Banana Pudding." Most importantly, thanks be to God for entrusting us with such a wonderful little boy. May He strengthen us to steward William faithfully.
