band update...

For the last month, our orthotist said that she hasn't been seeing as much improvement in Josiah's head shape as she would like. She said that when that happens, it means that his neck muscles are still tight and are prohibiting the bones in the back of his skull from rounding out b/c they're all connected. Since it's been so long since she's seen adequate improvement in his head shape, she suggested the possibility that something else might be causing Josiah's torticollis since physical therapy doesn't seem to be helping as much anymore. She gave us a list of pediatric physical therapists who specialize in torticollis and encouraged us to have him further evaluated.

Of course, Josiah has been sick for the last month and a half (literally)... and I have been having a hard time doing his stretches consistently. So that would explain it for me since the orthotist had mentioned before that there usually is little improvement in head shape when they are sick. The body tends to focus on fighting off the virus, so they don't grow as much... or their head doesn't... or something like that. Not sure how true that is since I'm not a doc, but it would explain why Josiah's head shape hasn't been improving as much over the past month.

Anyway, it looks like we will try to see one of these specialists to rule out the other "possibilities." While we are not thrilled about having to see more docs/specialists, we think it's important to pursue just to make sure nothing else is wrong. Please pray for wisdom as we parent Josiah and walk down these other medical avenues.
