Josiah is now 20 lbs. 11 oz. (3rd percentile). (He actually lost weight since his last visit.) And his height is 31.75 inches (25-50th percentile). Other than being a lightweight, Josiah is healthy and has been hitting his milestones. He actually is not even on any of the curves for weight since it's so low. Doc said that he's making his own curve below the lowest curve, but that he's doing well. As long as his curve follows the same trajectory as the other curves, he's fine. I guess what we don't want to see is his curve plateau-ing. I was a little concerned since he was 21 lbs. the last time we came in, but the doc said not to worry because the 21 lbs. actually bumped his curve up out of what it normally had been. Now that he's down to 20 lbs., he's back on his regular curve. Doc said that if she thought there was anything wrong, Josiah would be going through a battery of tests and getting bloodwork done to see what was causing the developmental delay. But she said she has worked with those kinds of kids and Josiah does not fit the profile at all. He is still following the same trajectory of the other curves, albeit making his own and has been hitting all his developmental milestones. So she said not to worry at all and that he will most likely always be "petite." Words I always want to hear to describe my boy. ;) We're just grateful that he's healthy. (And Josiah more than makes up for "petite" in how active he is. He is truly all boy.) =)
