We went for another follow-up appt w/our neurosurgeon at Children's Hospital. It was a quick and easy appt. (I like those.) =) (Actually, we had to wait an hour before seeing the Doc, but once we were in, it didn't take long.) Doc took cross-diagonal measurements of Josiah's head and found there was a 1 1/4 cm difference. Josiah had a 3 cm difference when the Doc first saw him before he got the band and a 1 1/2 to 2 cm difference at his last appt. So Josiah's head is continuing to round out. Yay! Great news!
We talked w/him about what our orthotist at Cranial Tech was saying about why Josiah's head wasn't rounding out as much, and he confirmed that it didn't make any sense that muscle tightness in the neck would prohibit his head from rounding out. He encouraged us not to get another band since Josiah isn't always laying on his right side anymore. And since he's now pretty active and is sleeping in all positions, Doc said his head would still continue to round out... up until around 6-years old. He said we should be pleased w/how much Josiah has improved, so we're very grateful for that.
So Doc said that there was no longer a need for us to see him anymore, unless there was a concern we wanted to discuss w/him. While we are grateful for his expertise and counsel, it is good that we no longer need to see him since Josiah seems to be doing well. We praise and give thanks to the Lord for the kindness He has shown to our Smiles.
