the dermatologist...

I took William to see the dermatologist because of 2 spots that have been on his left foot for a while now.  Doc said one was most likely an eczema patch that should clear up with some topical medicine.  If it doesn't go away, then we should bring him in again since it could possibly be something else.

The other spot looks like an abnormal healing of a cut William had a while back.  Doc said on occasion, cuts can heal with little cysts that are like little bubbles.  They won't harm him and sometimes will spontaneously go away.  But if we really don't like it, he said we could bring him in again and put some numbing cream on the area prior to the appointment.  And they could pop the cysts out.  Doesn't sound like too much fun, especially b/c we know William would TOTALLY and MAJORLY flip out about it before, during, and after the appointment...  He is definitely our sensitive and fearful one...  He cries when we have to get rid of an old toy or throw away the packaging to some markers.  We have been talking to him about not tying his little heart to the things of this world, but that's a hard concept to grasp even for us adults... including enduring pain.  My wise husband says maybe it's the estrogen in his soy milk...  Anyway, we're not sure we want to traumatize him over something that isn't going to harm him.  We'll just have to think about it some more.
